Who is required to participate in the program?

On April 30 1997, Alberta Environmental Protection announced the establishment of the Alberta Used Oil Management Association (AUOMA) as a management board responsible for stewardship of used oil, used oil filters and used oil containers in Alberta. It is a legislated requirement that you register with AUOMA if you are the first seller in Alberta of EHC applicable lubricating oil materials. How does my company apply for membership with AUOMA?

Step One: Review the AUOMA Program Plan Package.

Step Two: Complete and forward the following documents to the Association:

AUOMA will only process your application and activate your membership upon receipt of all the above mentioned items. Your name will then appear on our website in our Member Listing.

IMPORTANT:

The bylaws of the Alberta Used Oil Management Association (the “Association”, or “AUOMA”) require the collection of an Environmental Handling Charge (“EHC”) on sales of applicable products from September 1, 1997.

EHC remittances are to be retroactively remitted to the inception of the AUOMA Program effective September 1, 1997, the exception being the following filters to be remitted beginning July 1, 2003:
