
Since 2006, the BC Used Oil Management Association has undertaken a province-wide communications campaign to encourage the responsible recycling of used oil materials.
Two Ambassadors embark on a tour of the province in a branded vehicle promoting the message to key stakeholders and members of the public that "one drop makes a difference." Over a 17-week period, the team visits Return Collection Facilities to build relationships with these important program stakeholders, meets with municipal and regional district contacts, participates in media interviews and attends community events.
Due to the success of the BCUOMA program, BC now has one of the highest recovery rates in the country. Not only has the association been able to connect with more program stakeholders and residents of BC, but this program has also encouraged fellow industry associations to get involved.

From May to September, 2011, the Ambassador team will travel to communities across BC to promote used oil and antifreeze recycling. A key focus of the 2011 Ambassador Program will be raising awareness of the addition of used antifreeze and antifreeze containers to the used oil recycling program. BCUOMA hopes that by continuing the summer program, more industry partners will become involved and the Association can continue to educate the public on the importance of properly disposing of hazardous materials.
